Don'T Rush Back To Me Like The Ocean Rushing To The Shore Poem by Christina Ramirez

Don'T Rush Back To Me Like The Ocean Rushing To The Shore

I loved you yesterday,
I'll love you today,
and I'll love you tomorrow.
I don't have much to say that couldn't be summed up in 3 little words.
I miss seeing you and having you here.
It hurts my heart and makes my eyes cry.

I don't want you to speak,
or to sigh,
I just want you to listen, no matter how hard I cry.
What I say can't offend you or make you snore,
because its something you've already heard before.

'I love you' doesn't cover it, it never could, it's something more that lives deep within me.
And you could fight it or we might disagree,
but you have to know that your everything that I see.

Your the thump in my heart,
and the knot in my gut.
The inspiration to my art,
and the swag in my strut.

The happiness in my laughter,
the gleam in my eye.
The before to my after,
my month of july.

'Hate' could never touch my lips when I whisper your name,
it's something that I could never do, even if I gave you a critical review.
Even if all mistakes and blame, laid lightly on your shoulder.

Don't rush back to me like the ocean rushing to the shore.
Sit and bask in the memories of me and when you return we'll make time to create more.

I can't tell you face to face,
so this quivering voice you hear comes from a sober heart.
I imagine you here, as I pace back and forth in a small place I stop and remember your strong embrace, sweeping around my ordinary waist.
But your not here, your far away and apart of me is with you.

So I don't care if I hang up with you as a friend,
or as something more.
Because your the only person worth fighting for.
