Don'T Wait Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

Don'T Wait

Don't wait for yesterday's laughter
To return,
Or yesterday's smile to grace your lips...
As yesterday is just that,
Gone...
Never to return.
Even yesterday's flowers droop their heads
In the morning mist...
Yesterday's dreams seek solace
In someone's memories.
So, don't wait!
Reach out!
Someone's coming to take you by
The hand...
Go on!
Stretch it out,
Way out!
There is someone who will
Understand.
Your heart will race again,
It can cherish all the glad
Things tomorrow brings if naught goes wrong,
Yesterdays will be forgotten things,
But today, raise your voice in glorious song!
