Don't go pampering tramps and beggars.
Or conmen and preachers
Don't get taken in by laymen with a curl and a roving eye.
Count your blessings like a happy hapless bee.
You have a hive child with an exultant queen.
A contented father -reading papers, pulling up daisies.
Don't go walking backwards with drifters and fools.
Stick to your books and learn
The future doesn't have a guide or map.
The roads you move down can be cruelly unkind.
No -point-keeping company that might explode.
And darken your soul.
So child, don't go digging a deeper hole.
You only get one sepulchral tomb when you go home to die.
Squirrelled in a burrow, you call your heart and head
It's a precious room, remember,
Remember, everything isn't shaped by thought alone.
It takes a lot of good moral action too.
You've got to swerve a bullet somehow.
Take a right turn blindfold somehow.
So don't go walking backwards.
Stick to your books and learning.
The future is yours and mine.
If we do not all fall off a tightrope at the circus show.
Don't let vampires or the wolves play you for a fool.
You've only got one job to do.
And -believe it or not, it's -only got one rule of thumb too.
And that is to take pride in everything you do.
Don't go faceless ever again.
Take pride in everything you do.
Don't let vampires or the wolves play you for a fool.
Instead, do -yourself a favour and take them to school.
Teach them about personal development.
Up from the ground
Show them who they should look up to and transcend.
To bear wings and set their soul free.
