Don't Teach Your Children Poem by Randy McClave

Don't teach your children to judge and hate
Don't seal their future and their fate,
And don't teach them to spread rumors and gossip
Don't let them take that awful sip.
Don't teach your children to murder or to kill
Don't teach them that they shouldn't help or heal,
And don't teach them to ever mock others
In the eyes of God, we are all sisters and brothers.
Don't teach your children they are better than anyone
Because, of the clothes they wear and the crowns they put on,
And don't teach them to ridicule others because they don't have a job
Doesn't mean that those people will kill and rape and rob.
Don't teach your children to hate people different than them
Don't teach them that their life is pathetic and grim,
And never, ever teach them to put a dollar first
Don't have your children believe that wealth will give them joy on earth.
Don't teach your children to become political
And don't teach them to be left or right or being critical,
Don't teach your children to be a racist or a bigot
Inside their soul don't let that belief inhibit.
Don't teach your children to be just like you
Never teach them lies, but teach them what is true,
If you want to teach them anything on their journey or on their way
Then teach your children, unto God to always pray.
