Doubt Poem by Preston James

Doubt

In silence I ponder my life.
All of the unfortunate happenings,
can I share them with you?
Or shall I leave them be?
They fester deep inside,
waiting to come out.
So deep in fact
That I do not know them all myself.
But can I trust you?
Or will you hurt me like the rest?
Do you even want to know?
Have I even crossed your mind?
I doubt these things of you.
not because what I feel is not true,
but because I know not to,
allow my feelings to control me.
Therefore I hold you,
arm's length away.
And wait for a sign
that you truly do care.
