Down 'N Brown In Darwin

2012

Fil's birthday being early May
She threw an Easter party.
Everyone brought eggs.
The power went off,
The chocolate soft,
Dali-ed in its foil.
It flowed across the lino floor,
No-one could keep their legs.
'Down South will laugh out loud for sure.
Take photos, please! ' Fil begs.

2013

Easter
Having been March 31,
Fil was thinking forward.
She looked at June and said, 'You know,
I'll throw a Queen's Birthday party,
All but me to dress as deer.'

Darwin being sticky hot
All were soon drenched to the antlers.
Fil, who was not,
Apologized as she passed around the ice,
Her six hands proving handy,
'One feels one's at the war again,
Being servant to one's deer subjects.
One had thought, one's being Queen Bee,
One would only be sipping shandy.'

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
