Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Poem by Pallab Chaudhury

Dr. B. R. Ambedkar

Rating: 5.0

Like the Ganges on Mahadeva's tangled hair,
The people of India from lower caste were tied
With the snake-noose of castism by the upper caste!
The jewel of king Sagar, Bhagirath by name
Out of his years' long meditation and struggle
Brought the Ganges on earth to revive
All his ancestors who died of a curse.
By bring numerous clauses of law and justice
Into the structure of India's constitution
Babasaheb of Mahar family caused the same effect.
It became synergistic to all- irrespective of caste and creed
On having stone-pitching on banks and well finished steps
To fetch clean and clear water from the river.

Diving into the bottom of seven seas, the stones
Which the Bharat Ratna brought for pitching and steps
Are very strong and durable.
It will last, I suppose-

For many years yet to come,
For many years yet to come.
