Dr. Phil Poem by Freeyad Ibrahim

Dr. Phil

By Freeyad Ibrahim

Selman Rushdie would never reach glory
If he had not attacked Islam
And consequently, sentenced to death
by ayatollah Khomeini's threatening.

Orhan Pamuk too
He would not be rewarded Noble Prize
if he had not criticised the Ottoman Empire
Sharply, accordingly the Islam
In his writing.

Naguib Mahfouz would not have been awarded
The Noble Prize
And would remain lifelong unknown
If he had not criticized the Islamic law
in his writing
And was finally stabbed by a radical Muslim

Dr Phil has found a new key to the glory door
In all of his TV programs
He took the side of women
He marginalized the man in his series
He was the aggressor
even if he was the victim,
Even if she was the offender
the oppressor, the attacker
and the man was the defender.

The shortest two ways to glory and fame are:
Attack the Islam
Or defend the women

As Shakespeare once said:
To beguile the time, look like the time!
