Dragon Of The Neverworlds Poem by Emmanuel Stone

Dragon Of The Neverworlds

Rating: 5.0

Into the Neverworlds I shall travel with you
So grab your sword! Grab your shield!
Hold them tight! For where we go there shall be war!
and bring too the scrolls where those wiser than we
have written about these hostile lands.

The march ahead is long and daunting
but we know we must go and so we set forth.

The Neverworlds are a beautiful land of green hills and plains,
tremendous mountains and wide forests,
and the sky is blue and the birds sing,
but alas, danger is never far away.

The gentlefolk we meet upon our way warn us of the danger
but we are not to be halted by anything which crosses our path.

Through the forests we pass, though the trees are hostile
and try to make us lose our way and steal all sunlight from our eyes
but their wickedness we overcome.

Over the mountains we climb confronted by goblins pouring forth
from defiled caves, but their keen knives are no match for our mighty swords
and soon we overpower them and they flee.

Then in the cover of darkness we ride across the plains,
for if day breaks while we are upon the plain we shall be attacked
by the vicious gargoyle swarms. We evade their evil eyes.

We shall face the hordes of the dark master,
fight off the giants marauding from the north,
destroy the vile wolves which dare confront us,
and pass unheeded through the necromancers lands
for no danger shall stop us in our quest, bar one.

We reach the barren lands of stone and fire
where the dragon hoards its gold
and here we shall humbly pass on by
and we shall not chase the dragon
or fight it for its hoard,
for the dragon is more powerful than we,
and we seek for wisdom, not death.

These are the Neverworlds, hostile and beautiful
where boys are made men and men are made wise.
