Drain A Swamp? Poem by Kevin Patrick

Drain A Swamp?

Rating: 5.0

Its said at every rally, on buttons
and bumper stickers
they even have it on hats
and t-shirts
and Im pretty sure
its on toilet paper too.
Removing the filth
off of Americas soul
The evil socialist
and all of the elites
and whatever boogeyman
suntan uncle Sam says so

Why would you drain a swamp
its not very logical
they are after all biological sponges
and natural reservoirs
that take all tempests punches
they provide ecological balance
for fresh water critters
and protect fragile coastlines
from flooding jitters
they are natural purifier
and fresh aquifers
absorbing wastes without haste

they are in short
essential

just ask
hurricane Katrina

Oh you can drain a swamp
but only a fool would do so

so go ahead...
and drain it
then you can make
America
smell again

Magnificent, Kevin. This is just brilliant. Perhaps those advocating for the swamp's demise might just be upset that the corruption cannot breathe in and thrive in the open air. Brilliant! This verse goes to myfavourites.

A lot of what's happening in the world doesn't make much sense. And this is a perfect example. There's no draining your creativity, Kevin. You keep coming up with intriguing excellent poems!

A powerful and insightful poem. I concur with the wisdom of this poem, Kevin. We must always stand for ecological balance. Meaningful write well presented.

Kevin, I think there are times when draining a swamp makes perfect sense, and other times when it would be an ecological disaster. I think each case needs to be thoroughly studied on its own merits. I enjoyed reading the poem.
