Dreadful Virus Poem by Babatunde Aremu

Dreadful Virus

There is mysterious foe
Ravaging the universe
It has no mercy,
A friend to none.
It spares no one
It's dreadful and devastating
The entire mankind is cowed
Man hibernates like chicks

'Lockdown', isolated, quarantined
Like amarooned mouse by a predator
We are scared
By an unexpected foe
Who is determined to knockdown
Anyone who dare come near.
No more shaking of hands, banter or close contact,
We are suddenly 'lockdown', isolated and quarantined

No more movement, stay at home
No more contact, maintain social distancing
No more corporate worship, contact God .
No religious oblation, no pilgrimage, no Hajj
Just stay indoor,
stay glued toyour television
Listen to tales of woes
Emanating from afar and near.

O! man, where is your acclaimed strength?
Where are your valiant men
Who fought and won ferocious wars?
Where are the powerful nations
Who boasted of invincibility?
Where are the super powers
Who claimed to know it all?
Will this pandemic overwhelm you?

Wake up man,
You have slept awhile
Awake fellowmen,
Come back to your first love,
Surrender, forsake immoral acts.
Come back to God, seek His face,
Ask for mercy,
You can't fight this battle alone,
You need divine intervention.
Surrender to the creator and be restored.
