Dreams Poem by Kevin John Racaza

Dreams

Told was I of writing a poem

Anywhere but here at my home.

Sitting I am in the front of my desk,

And putting this mind to a test.

Well, let's start with a dream when

I was still a young child; back then

I thought of becoming a doctor who

Cures the ill and saves lives too.

I've also dreamed of a scientist

That's me who'll be quite different from the rest,

But these are juvenile thoughts I conceived

Back when the world's a cake; I believe.

The truth is I've also dreamed of

Finishing my studies so I could think thereof

Land a profession I can say I'm proud

And tell faces I often get smiled and often get frowned.

I've also dreamed of having my very own

Family that I'd love, and can call home.

A cheerful one holding the half of my heart,

And little noises that 'll grow and make their own start.

And I've got many other dreams too; one

Is to have a house, a place to fill with love and fun.

I want to have my very own car; that's two

And establish a small business I'd be managing too.

All of these things I continue to keep in my sight's line

Until I have grabbed them I won't go easy but I'll be fine;

For I know 'tis a thorny and rough road I must take,

An endeavor only I, myself and me can make.
