Drifting Thoughts Poem by Robert Green

Drifting Thoughts

Rating: 5.0

Fast moving river
Cold and deep
To immerse myself I deliver
From the jetty, leap!

Coolness from the days heat
Life's stresses abate
Heart misses a beat
Float on my back, at a sedate rate

Drifting downstream
Water gently rocking
Minds in a daydream
birds high, chirping, mocking.

Currant pulls faster
Water lapping
To rapids, and disaster
Arms and mind now flapping.

Go with the flow?
Smashed pillar to post
Each rock, a blow
In mind, who'd grieve the most!

Flipped and turned
Body aches
Mind burned
Oh! For My pitied sake.

Pulled under,
Life leaving
Water thundered
Friends, no grieving!

Thoughts recounting how a favorable day turned into a nightmare. What an ordeal. Glad you made it. Watch those currents.

This seems to have a metaphoric flow to it: a picture in words of lifes calm turned to struggle. A superb symbol of living in this tumultuous world. Great poem.

A sink or swim write I guess - choose to swim. Great write.
