Driving Through Poem by Israh Sadan

Driving Through

And so my heart sinks.
Through the murky waters the light fades.
The darker, the colder
Flashes of anger spark in the dark
Flashes of anger burn away the pain
But sadness smothers my temper
Hurt chokes my heart like a vicious vine
I tried crying
I imagine drowning must be the worst way to die.
I'd rather drown than live with you.
I dive into the darkness.
No longer care to linger
Anger again flares
Stuborness will drive me through the darkness.
If bitterness is my new home
I will own it
With poisoned passion I reject you, too.
I deny forgiveness
Through the cold darkens you will hear my laughter
May it haunt your hollow heart.
