Drowning Poem by Katy Tuten

Drowning

A quick breath, don't look back.

Jump.

Needles caress my limbs as I crack
through the waves. My vision,
a frenzy of colors that surfaces envision.

Thump.

My heartbeat pounds in my ears.
Drenched my soul, swallowed by my fears.
I swim. I fight against the current.

Crump.

My lungs explode, blinding furry always recurrent.
I gasp for air. My world fading dimn.
Glacial breaths seep in; Death's whim.
