Dug-Out Helpful Doug

The relic-ests of the trip -
the most noticeable relics -
now that baby palm of Mataranka's dead,
are down to two:
left and right white trainers,
that were brand new
and were impregnated in their nooks and crannies
on their first day
by ochre dust from above Vio's Coober Pedy dug-out;
were impregnated on their second day
by ochre dust from his opal claim;
and were impregnated on day 10
by roof-top dug-out dust again -
I climbed to the top;
it wasn't so cold and windy then.

Glossary:
'Vio' as in Rio is Victor
(do Romanians call Rio Rictor?):
a 'dug-out' is a house
dug out of sandstone;
'Coober Pedy' as in Uber Greedy;
'Mata-' as in cata- as in cataract,
'-ranka' as in rancour.
