Dying All Alone Poem by Randy McClave

Dying All Alone

There once was this story
Which I heard about as a boy,
About this one person who had died
And in heaven when they arrived, they cried.
Saint Peter met this person at Heaven's Gate
With a smile welcoming them to their eternal fate,
But, all that person did was to moan
Because they had died loveless, and all alone.
Saint Peter then truthfully and spiritually said
Why do you care, because now you are dead,
Now with the Lord in bliss you'll spend your eternity
Never again will you be alone, of feel empty.
Then that person acknowledged that truth with a nod
Then they said, "Can I please talk to God, "
Saint Peter then acknowledged with a smile that they can
But, only one question is allowed by either woman or man.
And there they stood in front of God's mighty throne
Then they asked God, why did he let them die all alone,
Why was all the partners that they had picked never right
Why with them did they constantly argue and fight.
"The ones that you had picked only the Devil knows"
"Because by me", God said, "They were not ever chose",
"To me you never asked for help when you did pray"
"That is why you, and them kept straying away."
"Many times", God spoke, I led the right person outside your door"
Once I led them so you could talk to them inside a store
But, you ignored them like they were not known
"So", God said,"I thought thatyou wanted to die all alone".
