As retired military personnel
It augured not well
When we used to read newspapers with full story of murders
Fight between two communities and thus adding woes to sufferers

In our training camps
We used light the lamps
And pay homage to all those who gave sacrifice for the country
And prayed for rest in peace to an almighty

We used to dine on one table
Let me put it that we faced no irritation or troubles
No one asked about cast or religion
It was only talk of our great nation

We have met different people
And visited so many holy temples
Chruches and mosques always fascinated us
It was expression of faith, belief and trust

All religions preched one thing
Believed in one God and tried to bring
Peaceful atmosphere and lived with harmony
Almost all people shared this irony of fact

We may not be good philosopher
But always believed in creator
That was the only thing to feel proud
We all have, from time to time, spoken loudly

If our body is made of 5 earthly elements
And disintegrates back into same orgins
The belief is strengthened that there is only one super power
That takes our care and protects all overs
