Eddie Poem by Holly Jamestone

Eddie

A part of me went with you
When you took your life one day
Impossible to then accept
You couldn't choose to stay

Two decades passed and slowly
I have lived a life complete
But never was it easy to
Move on from your retreat

A part of me went with you
When you'd had enough and fled
No friends could ever comprehend
How this could be our Ed

Two decades passed and thankfully
Time tends to heal most pain
The good times overlapping bad
Fond memories remain

I hope you found the peace that was
Eluding you down here
That you embraced serenity
Cessation of your fear

Two decades passed and now I
Dedicate these prose to you
And those who end life much too soon
Before it should be through

Those left behind are grieving friends
And families helpless, lost
Confused, bewildered, angry
As all logic just seems tossed

Two decades passed and nearly three
As time continues on
I cherish life with renewed hope
Still can't believe you're gone

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Ed celebrated his 34th birthday with his parents on May 13,1988. The next day he quietly and methodically took his life in the mental institution where he was a patient. His depression spiraled over a breakup from a girl. The message here: A permanent solution to a temporary problem is horseshit. Had he been alive today, he would now be 58 years old and probably not remember the name of the girl he had once been so shattered by. If you are in the frame of mind that you want to end your life, this is a FALSE MOOD and not who you are. Get Help! -hollyJ
