Egotistical Wheels Of Time Poem by Hannington Mumo

Egotistical Wheels Of Time

Fly as fast as you will, egotistical wheels of Time.
Your hurried motions shall not derange his climb
To honeyed heights of high-octane fancy and rarest taste,
To thrills unremarked and jolly melodies immune to haste.

There merry music heeds no thwarting theatrics of impetuous Time
Nor delicious rhyme the stealthy motley antics of her thievish crime.
And loyal Love has there her kissing bonds solemnly strung to outlast
All her unjustified rage, with all pungent evils of decay cruelly massed.

If you will, on your swift-fluttering wing hang his fragile fate.
Virtue shall yet vindicate his spite-fouled deserts even if late,
And at last conquer your unforgiving rot and ill-meaning sway
And shush your noisy hastes to bring seasons of deathless day.

The solemn twist of his nervous quill and his great gilded letter
Both render your extant spans brighter, and coming eons better.
So what dispute have egotistical wheels of Time against their servile ally,
A bowing observer as her dials turn, a docile voyager rightly loath to die?
