Emotional Reflection Poem by Victoria Ritchie

Emotional Reflection

As I struggle here drowning in my lake of passion…
I wonder whether to try to survive…
I see reflections of my past in the water around me…
As one last single tear drop…
Falls from my bloodshot eyes…
I see everyone I’ve loved, liked, cared of…
And everyone I’ve hated, hit, and been mean to…
And I start to loose my breath…
Knowing I have a few last thoughts left…
I tell the one person…
Who has been there through whatever...?
The one I love…
The one who claims he loves me…
The one I would give up my life for,
if they would breathe for one last second…
I whisper my last words…
‘I love you’…
As I look up from the under the water…
And as I shut my eyes for the last time…
He relieves the pressure from my shoulders…
And removes his hands from on top of my head…
As my cold corpse body…
Rises to the very top of the lake of emotion.
