Employ After Try-Out (By St. Thiruvalluvar) Poem by Rajendran Muthiah

Employ After Try-Out (By St. Thiruvalluvar)

511. A king should employ one who scrutinises good and evil
And has a nature to do good.
512. He who augments revenues, wealth and scours the obstacles
To weed them out to progress should serve a king.
513. Trust him who has true love, wisdom, clear knowledge
And beneficence, the four qualities of human nature.
514. The persons picked out after many try-outs too
Change in their nature in doing things.
515. He who is calm and knows the means of doing things
Should do king’s commission and not by anyone specious.
516. Examine the traits of the doer, the nature of the work
And the apt time and then assign him the job to do.
517. Be certain, ”This work could be done by this tool
and by this man', and then allot the work to him.
518. Ascertain the rights of a man to do some work
And then promote him the rightful man to do it.
519. Fortune deserts him who doubts the elated worker
From his informal ways of doing work.
520. If the workers of a king are right, the world goes right.
Let the king observe their deeds to amend them daily.
