Emptiness Poem by Katinka Havermans

Emptiness

There is a shadow in the bed
A shadow of what she once was
Small and vulnerable
At the end of her rope

There is a shadow beside the bed
The shadow reaches out
Whispers softly
'Time to go, my darling.'

The shadows of the room disappear
When the light rises
Two shadows, together one
Leaving a smile on her face behind

With us an emptiness
