POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I read a few of Robert Bly's poems last night and they made an impact. This is a short, quite simple poem about driving into town late at night to post a letter: he likes the sense of privacy so much at that late hour that he decides to keep driving around, wasting more time.
The poem appeals to me because I am that sort of person: I like driving at night and my own space. No one else around.
