Endless Chase Poem by Judy Jones

Endless Chase

I sit in a jacuzzi in a midday, Nevada heat
Fears bubbling up on every side of me
The ticking light, glaring in anticipation
of another wrong move
The bubbles seep out of my out my pores
and shiver up my skin
A chilling reminder
even in this scorching hell

So here I sit
Bewildered in this state of stillness
Confused with new waves of enlightenment
coming at me in all directions
Irrationality or enlightenment?
Is this depression muttering its negative thoughts?
Is this soul light catching my eye?
What a endless chase it leads me on!
I fear... So, so many things
But I fear I will endlessly chase
A transient perception of my happiness
It is nothing more than a motto on a daily calendar
