Moon With Many Faces Poem by Judy Jones

Moon With Many Faces

A star was born
Hidden in the moon's shadows
Look deep, and you can see it shimmer
Look into my eyes,
and you can see it burning as hot as the sun
Even on a dense, smoggy day
The amber flames lay low,
but just as intense as ever

I know I should be fluent
in the language of the stars by now
But I somehow can not get the orbits down
Instead I find them colliding and crashing in my head
A sound so loud
It echos for years

Please forgive me
For resting calmy in your gentle arms
to leaping light years away
I am a moon with many faces
Even Galileo could not predict
the faces of a woman's heart
