Enforced Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Enforced

Enforced

Over there in open
-as wide as horizon
-stood a, one, tree
-dried-look, without leaf
-as firm as the rocks of cliff
-all around to borders
-where the eyes went blur
-danced ballet mass of sands
-they climbed to her knee
-had made form, a conic
-branches had fingers
-tried to remove dust
-from long-bothered eyes

"I was born and have roots…"
-said tree "…in this land…
-…come and go invaders…"

I stand to my death
I stand to my death
I stand forever…and ever.

Sang tree and sent it on the waves
-of breeze and the wind, hurricane.

"…you know not why, how, what
-so, pack, wrap and get out…"
-said tree frowning, with a shout.

It flexed when talking to the thorns
- "…my fellow owners and old neighbour…
-we are one though very different…
-we have shared the heat and cold, thunders,
-gave blood, siblings and parents…
-though varied, share culture…
-you are my brothers."

"We resist with our lives against them, "
-said the thorn with respect.
-then both sang:
- "‘you' and ‘me' are the enforced borders."
