Engaged Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Engaged

Engaged

Had planned a poem
-romantic; was haunted
-memories of pastime
-find it hard and cannot!

Am taken by sweet surprise
-have found what I had longed.
- (Not exact; nearby!)

In my mind had drawn
-a movie script
- sort of mist; dust, cloud.

Now have it to point
-on table-screen.
-Somebody like Jesse
- (my friend, classmate, Red-Skin)
-the hero to lead the narration, be brain.

Romance was of my own engagement
-and meeting my confirmed finance;
-and acts of her mother, angel of miracles.

Showed her and approved how:
- "Go, kiss him for goodbye."

That was not too common
-in Iran of our time
-but mothers…
- (These angels…)
-closed eyes, opened heart
-removed the obstacles, gravel …
-had always excuse; paved the way.

We stayed in kitchen
-spent time flirting for minutes.

Till that day…
-on me, too, her jacket.

She returned without it
-all the eyes were watching
-making feel naked, embarrassed
-but in heart was proud and cunning:
- "I have him, he is mine, and own him."
