Enhancer Gene Poem by Ima Ryma

Enhancer Gene

Snakes and lizards - one dif'rence be
Lizards have limbs and snakes do not.
But go way back in history,
The snakes back then had limbs a lot.
What happened to the limbs of snakes?
Inquiring humans want to know.
No matter how much time it takes,
Limbs on the snakes again will grow.
The key is the enhancer gene,
On in lizards but in snakes off.
Snoopy humans will intervene,
And turn the snake gene on - don't scoff!

Just like the olden days long gone,
Snakes will have a leg to stand on.
