Enslaved To Success Poem by Bryan Taplits

Enslaved To Success

Just when you have achieved your goals, accomplishments galore,
And envied-lips all breathe your name-
On wings your stature's soared.
But then you‘re span bespeaks to you-
Now that you made your mark-
What once was easy and, Oh, so smooth -
No longer is a lark.
So foolish then, but sly stubborn time-
Refurbished, your life that you sold,
Yes, you wasted all your once precious youth
On gathering successions of fools gold.
Passed lessons that once you had sought
Again, you seek now in winter's cold,
But the joust with the past's wily knight:
Is too late. And reveals-That
'You‘re too old! '
