Erase - Poem by Lynzi Berner

Can you erase memories
from your heart?

I feel your arms
although I know not your touch

I feel your breath
on my skin
though we have never been together

Your hearbeat
still tingles against my chest

Pressing close
against skin and bone
that have never felt your touch

Your tossled hair
Your sideways smile

my heart could never
forget these things
