Eveleen Poem by Francis Duggan

Eveleen

Sad to think in the flesh never more to be seen
She was such a beautiful person kind hearted Eveleen
Of anyone she never had an unkind word to say
And to help others she often went out of her way
To her late husband Bill she was a loving and a devoted wife
Ten years ago cancer robbed him of his life
She was more than his wife she was his greatest friend
And she nursed him in his long painful illness right up to his end
Eveleen lived as a great person for to give her fair due
She and Bill had one daughter Susan also known as Sue
Who lives in London with her partner and their son of nineteen
Due to tyranny of distance for a few years them she had not seen
In her mid seventies in her sleep from life she passed away
The beautiful Eveleen she was buried today.
