Even A Friend Poem by Francis Duggan

Even A Friend

We read and hear of the economy every day
But few politicians or journalists ever talk of or of anything does say
Of the Earth we do live on that the economy on entirely depend
That we take our Natural Environment for granted why even pretend
That many see little to worry about in climate change
For to say the least does seem rather strange
By this thing known as human progress the Earth that feeds us is being destroyed
And this is not anything on which for to take pride
Our pollution of the Planet is out of control
On future generations of human beings our present Environment abuse will take it's toll
Human pollution of land and air, ocean and every waterway
Is out of control in the World of today
On the one that feeds and supports us and to live on whom we depend
We are not what one would call even a friend.
