Everlasting Summer Poem by Kevin Patrick

Everlasting Summer

Rating: 5.0

Green chapels swell under simmering noon
beaches, oaks and balms, blush in verdant plumes
gleaming glossy gowns of mint foliage
Serenely soothing doubts with its rustic dosage

Thick wooden bodies crowd, in gnarled partitions
brambles knot and lace assuaged incisions
with tangled limbs that twine in soaring canopies
leafing light to echo with emerald ecstasy

A square of earth peepholes with its primal vistas
Ferns and flower graze by deciduous sisters
And birds from lost times, squawk rhapsodic hymns
Filling their wide wings as the drowning blue sky brims

Hazy rays caress under titillating gusts
Humid air expires and wild grasses rust
And overhead the sun seethes a panting overflow
Leaving life to standstill in Eden's afterglow

And everything is submarine under vibrant colors
All that's old grows young again in everlasting summer

Beautiful picture portrait of summer with fertile imagery. But I wonder how perceptions change in different climes. We in India if look forward to summer is perhaps for vacation(students) and for the luscious mango fruits. No 'we are pleased when it pours' says one of my poems. But this is not to doubt what you say. I liked what the poem said and how it said.
