Everyone Wants Something More Poem by Mark Heathcote

Everyone Wants Something More

Everyone wants a ladder to the stars these days.
Everyone wants a ladder to the stars these days.
In a game of social media freak shows
Everyone wants fame and fortune.
No one is looking for answers, don't you know?

Everyone wants something more.
Everyone wants something more.
Not a hand clutching sand or straw
Not a nickel or dime life
Everyone wants condominiums bordering-
A sunny Havana road

Everyone wants a ladder to the stars these days.
Everyone wants a ladder to the stars these days.
No one is looking for answers, don't you know?
Everyone wants to raise their mercury levels
Further on down the road
Everyone wants a Malibu home on the coast.
It's simply because they all like to boast.

They're only too eager to bear their souls
And remove all their clothes.
Without excuses, without excuses or tears
The future is theirs before their advancing years.
Everyone wants a ladder to the stars these days.
Everyone wants a ladder to the stars these days.
