Everything Is Tailored To Look Better After Dark Poem by Mark Heathcote

Everything Is Tailored To Look Better After Dark

Everything is tailored to look better after dark.
Isn't that why the stars have these big, explosive hearts?
Doesn't the moon's luminosity shine brighter?
More emphatically in its emulsions when it's looking at you?

Don't all the fireflies burn that much brighter anatomically?
When their hearts are aglow with your love.
Oh, darling everything is tailored to look better after dark.
But that doesn't mean to say,
I don't love you when the sun is standing stationary.

Oh, darling everything is tailored to look better after dark.
Oh, I'm sinking in the quicksand of love.
I've entered the belly of its universally tightening grip.
And I can't release the tension as I fall.
I guess it must be love after all.

Oh, doesn't the world always look better in the morning?
Doesn't the blackbird cry out harmoniously, loud and proud?
Oh, darling, let the day begin with the moonlight on your skin.
And let the stars make little woodworm holes out of your soul.
So I can drink it like heady mead and not feel all alone.

Oh, darling everything is tailored to look better after dark.
So, darling, let us wander home.
Oh, I'm sinking in the quicksand of your love.
I've entered the belly of its universally tightening grip.
And I can't release the tension as I fall.
I guess it must be love after all.

Because everything looks better looking out of your earthen bed.
Especially after I've been watered and fed.
Bathed in the vigil light with an angel in attendance
Wanting to be a bride, wanting to be married and wed.
Oh, darling everything is tailored to look better after dark.
Oh, darling everything is tailored to look better after dark.
Oh, lord even a predator's spider's web.
