The quest for God
evoked by the awakened
consciousness of the emptiness
of the world is for a return to God,
the ground and the source of all existence.

And this return is only possible
by detachment and ‚death‘
in the exterior self,
so that the inner self,
purified and renewed,
can fulfill its function
as the image of the divine.
