Evolution Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Evolution

Evolution

For long, long, it was damned
Religions'; faiths' demand:
"It is God's; so it must! "

But these days
Even mosque and the church,
Accept or pretend: "It is science! "

Therefore we, Humans and monkeys
"Have same roots, are cousins! "
I listen…don't resist…

Whenever if ever I find time
If I am
Dig and pull out of bag
My seen and my observed
The seen' touched as first hand:
"Yes man, animals do evolve…"

Example is cockroach
Freely they approach
If able they climb
On my legs, fingers, thumb
But before I reach out
To slap and crush
They are gone out of sight
As if fox, jaguar
As if light of clouds.

They run and they fly with speed
As if wind or breeze.

Cannot say what they are
Even books cannot call!

To add to life span
They have learned; have evolved.
