Evolve Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Evolve

Evolve

Nightingale I am and it is dawn
-behind me a dark night
-I can see the baby, baby-bud
-and I am mesmerised

Look at cane and stem
-green they, thorns brown;
-stifles and leaflets and bud-eyes
-sense of love and the life in the light

Bud is born as baby in village
-older days
-is wrapped tight and legs set straight

Siblings are around
-different colour shades, and in size
-I look at the petals, verify
-a virgin; too cute, sweet sixteen

Then I sing

Sing and sing
Sing and sing
Sing and sing

Till blood comes to mouth:
- 'This is life…
-Earth evolves
-makes days, nights
-dark and light
-wrong and right
-finally, all of us
-go and die to depart, …
-to be calm, sweet, soft…'

And then I
-as I am
-human:
- 'Do we get enough joy?
-enough love?
-worldly or heavenly? '
