Exchange Poem by Joyce Msonda

Exchange

As you ruthlessly fired at my ego,
In a furnace, sweat dripping down our faces.
You forgot that I was a mindless creation,
That unfortunately suffers at the expense of people like you.
Perhaps, my vulnerability instigates the coldness of your every fiber.
My youth, has envy dragging you down the pavements of revenge!
One would be envious, very green with it in fact.
You forgot I was a self-victimized creation
In the shadows, you lurk!
Awaiting for my failure, for my desolation!
Is it a crime?
That your envy is what awakens my deceased soul.
