Expectations Poem by Elizabeth Hefty

Expectations

Rating: 5.0

You want love without expectations,
To curb the longings you dare not hope,
But they flutter within you,
Butterflies emerging,
Trying to break free
unchain you from your prison;
and release you into the world of dreams.
So fight expectations if you must,
and continue to wrap yourself in fear,
for all you can ever win thus,
is regret.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
When the one we love is mired in self doubt we wish we could give them all our wild expectations, make them see through our eyes.

I agree, and rather live having no expectations, but I do believe it is important to have hope. Good poem!

The poem was written not about myself, but for someone very close to me who is afraid of expectation. I wish him to free himself of those fears. He is far too brave a soul to live such a way.

So fight expectations if you must, Butterflies in the stomach.......... never be negative. i would advice you. please remain in expectation and in hope........ why should u regret when u live in faith and in hope. only good will happen to you.... thank u. that should be the attitude in life. tony
