Eye Of The Storm Poem by Dakota Ellerton

Eye Of The Storm

Like a storm in my being
It couldn't be stopped
this overwhelming emotion
began tearing me apart
I collapsed to the floor
the rain fell and the wind blew
I should've known
my heart was pounding
blood pumping through my veins like poison
I've lost my sanity
I crawl into my safe place
the water flows down my body
mixing with my tears
I don't understand
I run through the house
wet and sobbing
emotionally imbalanced
I find the phone and retreat back to my world
I listen for a moment
until I hear the cruelest of lies
I throw the phone and scream
no you don't!
I feel so hopeless
eight months of disbelief
nothing is nothing
it's all an illusion
it's all a cruel lie
