Eyes Wide Open Poem by Edwina Reizer

Eyes Wide Open

Eyes wide open
Still, some don't see.
Stares unfocused
Fixated, not free.
What is needed
to make them blink?
What is needed
to make them think?

A rude awakening
interrupting their trance.
An unexpected jolt
that gives them a chance
to become aware
and stop the stare.

Eyelids shut
will open the mind
and allow the seer
to eventually find
what could not be seen
with eyes wide open.
