Eyes Wide Open - Poem by Edwina Reizer

Eyes wide open
Still, some don't see.
Stares unfocused
Fixated, not free.
What is needed
to make them blink?
What is needed
to make them think?

A rude awakening
interrupting their trance.
An unexpected jolt
that gives them a chance
to become aware
and stop the stare.

Eyelids shut
will open the mind
and allow the seer
to eventually find
what could not be seen
with eyes wide open.
