Faded Poem by Matt Bennett

Faded

Rating: 5.0

You'll find me in a bitter place,
A blackness untouched by begger's hands.
Not an atom left, not even a trace,
Just one crumbled statue stands.

Blessed by sins so long overlooked,
Wrinkles appear and wither its face.
Buildings long gone lightning once struck,
Left to be empty and as cold as space.

Blank stares fill this tomb with fear,
An exponential void filled with nameless souls.
Let this fire burn and skin it will sear,
write your words as the reaper fills six foot holes.

You'll never find a smile,
You'll forever hear the lies.
Just a straight empty mile,
Pathways eroded by tears and cries.
Walk with open arms crying to be held,
You'll find nothing will ever come to you.
This is like a great statue having been felled,
You may feel it liberates but in the end you know that's not true.

Like empty promises and broken lies,
A world here now stands crumbled and eroded.
Look up and see burnt and blackened skies,
All voices and laughter here now has faded.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
As you may have noticed, as with pretty much 95% of my poetry, it's written through my own emotions, and thus, most are pretty miserable. I just hope you all enjoy my poetry, feel free to comment and rate it. I would love to hear feedback about these poems.

I guess I kind of wrote this as... my view on what this world is becoming. I know, if you look back through time, you could say it is relatively peaceful compared to what history has known. But this, its not really about the wars you hear about, or any kind of fighting. Its mainly just about how over time people have become more and more greedy, hoping to make themselves have a better life to live, without caring for others at all.

Anyway, just enjoy this.
