Fakir: Layla Poem by Sumita Jetley

Fakir: Layla

Rating: 5.0

In the heart of Delhi, where ancient meets new,
A Sufi woman walks, in morning's fresh dew.
Clad in a saree, both graceful and bold,
Her story in the city streets, silently told.

With steps firm and steady on the bustling street,
Her saree, a fusion where tradition and modernity meet.
Eyes open wide, embracing the day,
Her spirit, a beacon, shining bright as a ray.

Through lanes alive with history's whisper,
Her presence, like a gentle, calming elixir.
The fabric flows, in colors bright and serene,
Capturing her essence, visibly seen.

Amidst the chaos, her calm is a wonder,
Walking confidently, yet she stops to ponder.
In every thread, stories of the past intertwine,
Her saree, a symbol of a legacy divine.

Her steps, a dance through time and space,
Each movement, a symbol of elegance and grace.
In Delhi's heart, where dreams are sewn,
The Sufi woman walks, her inner light shown.

A blend of worlds, in her attire so grand,
A bridge between times, in this ancient land.
The city's pulse in harmony with her own,
In her saree clad form, Delhi's spirit is shown.

2) Saree traveled out of the Mahratha household, when Raja Ravivarma married a Mahratha lady and started painting the images of all goddesses in her image and attire.
