Falling Signs For Nations Poem by Cynthia Buhain-baello

Falling Signs For Nations

Browsing through history
Observations reveal
A nation bound for depravity
Loses its political will

In degeneration of morals
In language erosion
Departing from the spiritual
And absence of direction

Engrossed in much hatred
Breeding violence
Not of peace instead
But discouraged citizens.

Focusing on wars
Investing in costly weapons
Decline is not very far
Power blinds a nation.

History has an ugly way
For itself to be repeating
These visible signs today
Show many countries falling.

'The field of doom bears death as its harvest.'
(Aeschylus)
