Familiar Circumstances Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

Familiar Circumstances

Who are you running away from?
Is your past following you?
Somewhere lurking in the distance
And have detected your location
If it shall knock, what would you say?
How would you react?
You've been frightened long enough
Searching but haven't yet found love
Darkness can envelope you
If you don't first confront
What it is you fear
The end to your virtue could be near
Hurt disguises itself in many forms
And when it evolves, it devours something so innocent and pure
Do you blame yourself?
Is the pain so much to bear that closeness is what you long for but you push it from out of your own reach?
When will you gain control
Of the stirring wheel?
Or will you let things get out of control and take an unexpected crash?
Therapy is the art of being healed and emotionally, you need healing.
You have suffered such a heartache that leaves you sleep and not awake.
