Family Ties Poem by Kaci Tami

Family Ties

Rating: 4.5

Sometimes, the intricate web that binds us
through DNA or marriage
Sometimes need to be re-examined
as there are sometimes toxic people
who are in your periphery
but everything they do reeks of hypocrisy
They will lie to your face,
speak ill of you, demean you
make you feel lesser than a member
of this multifaceted human race
they will take away your dignity
with the vitriol they unleash
in order to make them appear more appealing
Sometimes I concur, that sometimes
You have to be the greater one
And sever those ties
So that the haters, do not bleed you dry
So that you can breathe in your own skin
Without reproach, without condemnation
Without the spoken words that cut to the quick
I would much prefer I take a scissors and boldly
Sever that link, remove that obstacle
For one's mental wellbeing
For the clarity of one's soul
SNIP!

Thank you I understand but like I said some people are narsissists and mean -its best to just let them go.
