Far Gone! - Poem by Dónall Dempsey

Two plastic bags
obviously tipsy

too much wind
to drink

saunter on down
the middle of the street

(ignoring the traffic)

as if they owned it.

“ ’Oi...darling! ”
they seem to shout

to a discarded
curvy Coke bottle

who tries
to ignore them.

They pester her
until the wind

leaves them
high & dry

and they come to rest
on a blue BMW

waiting for
someone

to take them
for a ride.
