Fare Is Never Fair Poem by Hardik Vaidya

Fare Is Never Fair

Rating: 4.0

Railway passengers beware.
Your pockets are under governments glare.
14.2% lighter, you now are beasts alright,
With your sack full of money, a tad lighter.
Enjoy it, your daily jog
Rather a blind dash in chaotic fog
Shall be easier, your pockets are lighter.
Less load is good governance.
Spoken as an optimist.

Having spoken now as mundane opposition,
Let me support the governments supposition,
And tell you people on your face,
Its high time your free rides were curtailed
The government too has to spend money
And you suckers need to understand its every penny.
Spoken as a political pundit.

Let me rant now, it is my fundamental right.
I need to scream shout and make all the right noise.
The government has totally lost its poise,
Posed for disaster,
The runaway government train is unstoppable.
Soon all, without discrimination
Shall be a part of 60 seconds to disaster.
Spoken as the biased news channel.

Silence, silence not a word uttered,
I shall speak once every five years.
And when I do it will be made clear.
Even deaf dumb political pall bearers
Shall hear what I say every 5th year.
Spoken as the voting citizen.
Adult suffrage.
Adult suffering.

For gods sake allow the hike,
Get a hold on your selfish sight.
You need to pay for our increments
The railways are run by government servants
We too have Diwali, Holi, Christmas
And money for us grows on your pockets,
Rich poor or be you beggars
As long as you are the people
Your money is ours.
Spoken as a babu.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Indian Railways announced a hike in passenger fares today. New government new initiatives, I personally think it is high time the fares were raised, no company can work in an economic fantasy.
